How home energy warranties work
A system may include separate coverage for panels, batteries, inverters, racking, communications equipment, and installation work. The manufacturer usually controls product coverage; an installer may separately offer workmanship coverage.
Referenced product summaries
| Referenced system | Summary only |
|---|---|
| Tesla Powerwall 3 | 10-year manufacturer limited warranty summary; verify current regional terms and connectivity requirements. |
| Enphase IQ Battery 5P | 15 years or 6,000 discharged cycles, whichever occurs first, subject to official terms. |
| SunGoldPower SGR-12K20E | Component-specific terms; no single universal kit duration. |
| ECO-WORTHY 10 kW family | Component- and SKU-specific terms. |
Why durations differ
Each component has its own maker, expected operating profile, serial number, exclusions, and remedy. Registration, activation, connectivity, operating mode, qualified installation, original location, and documentation can affect coverage.
Common limits and costs
Terms may exclude misuse, unauthorized modification, incompatible equipment, environmental damage, improper installation, cosmetic changes, normal degradation, or operation outside limits. Diagnosis, labor, removal, freight, access, and reinstallation are not automatically covered. Transferability may be limited.
Preparing and making a claim
Keep the proposal, invoice, serial numbers, commissioning record, photos, monitoring history, and maintenance records. Contact the seller or installer, document the symptom, follow safe shutdown guidance, obtain authorization before removal or return, and keep written decisions.
Solar System Installations does not expand a manufacturer's warranty. Workmanship coverage, when offered, will be stated in the signed installer proposal. Final signed provider and manufacturer documents control.
