Solar financing explained

Effective July 21, 2026Version 1.0

Compare ownership and total cost

Cash purchase can simplify ownership but requires upfront funds. A secured or unsecured solar loan spreads payments and may involve interest, fees, liens, or collateral. A lease usually leaves equipment ownership with another party. A power purchase agreement generally charges for produced energy under provider terms.

Ask beyond the monthly payment

Compare total payments, rate structure, fees, prepayment terms, maintenance responsibility, equipment ownership, production assumptions, transfer or home-sale requirements, insurance, and end-of-term options. A lower displayed payment does not by itself mean a lower total cost.

Availability and advice

Products, eligibility, and consumer protections vary by provider and location. Solar System Installations does not guarantee approval and does not display an APR without current provider data. Review provider disclosures and consult qualified tax, financial, or legal advisers about your circumstances. Incentives should be confirmed from current official sources and are not guaranteed.
