kW is a rate
A kilowatt describes power. Inverter continuous output, appliance draw, and solar-array rating are commonly shown in kW. Motor starting and short peaks need separate attention.
kWh is an amount
A kilowatt-hour describes energy. A 1 kW load running for 3 hours uses about 3 kWh before conversion losses. Battery capacity is commonly expressed in kWh, but usable limits and reserve settings matter.
Why both matter
Battery capacity alone cannot tell you whether an air conditioner can start, and inverter output alone cannot tell you how long loads will run. Ask for a load schedule with both peak power and expected energy. Compare published values.
